Hi all! This is my very first time at blogging, and I have to say I'm excited to share the world of Justin and Cameryn with my readers! Right now I'm writing a very scary part of my newest book entitled THE DYING BREATH. (*Spoiler alert for those who haven't read THE CIRCLE OF BLOOD!) As you all know, Kyle is b-a-a-a-c-k. He is such a frightening character - I'm having a blast writing about him. So if you have any questions about these books or writing in general, ask away. And welcome to my blog!

I just love your forensic novels and can't wait for the next one. When will it be out and will there be any more?

Alane Ferguson said...

Yeah - you're my very first question! Whoo hoo! YES, I'm hard at work on the next one, entitled THE DYING BREATH! (*Spoiler alert for those who have not read THE CIRCLE OF BLOOD) As you know, Kyle is back, and he is -how shall I put this? - less than happy that Cameryn and Justin are finally together. I got a bit behind because my daughter had a premature baby so I needed to help her and her husband (you can see a picture of me holding baby Katelin on my webpage) but THE DYING BREATH will be on the next list. There may be more, but I'm also planning on writing a supernatural ghost book as well, so I'll try to squeeze it all in. THE CHRISTOPHER KILLER is on numerous state book award lists and I just got a review from VOYA that said THE CIRCLE OF BLOOD is the best one yet! I can tell you for sure that THE DYING BREATH is even more intense! So I may have to keep right on going! Thanks so much for your question!

Hi! I absolutely love you books and am DYING to get my hands on the fourth! Are Justin and Cameryn finally going to get together in this book?

Alane Ferguson said...

Yes - trust me, they will be together! But there is a MAJOR complication. Stay tuned!

First of all, I love your books. Especially the newest forensic series. I was wondering how you came up with such an interesting environment, and how much influence does the real town Silverton have on your description of the town.

Alane Ferguson said...

Wow - another great question! (This blogging thing is fun!) I used to live in Durango and went to Silverton to visit, which is about an hour's drive away. I talked to the sheriff of Silverton (at that time the sheriff really was named John Jacobs) and asked if he'd had a murder there. He had. He told me all about the way their system worked and I thought it would be really cool to write about a small town, because that way I could get my protagonist (17 year old Cameryn) into an autopsy suite, since she could be hired by her own father and tus circumvent the age problem. I truly try to incorporate the real Silverton, but the truth is, I've made it a bigger town than it actually is. The REAL Silverton's graduating class consited of five students. With the stroke of a keyboard, I made it bigger. That's the magic of fiction! Still, there's a lot of Silverton's flavor and history. It's a GREAT place!

Are you working on another National Geographic mystery?

Alane Ferguson said...

I am not (as of now) working on any more National Geographic Mysteries, although I don't rule it out for the future. I'm just so slammed with work on my current forensic series that I don't have enough time in the day! Still, it could happen soem day, so keep checking!

Cameryn knows Kyle's back. Does she tell anyone or does she keep it a secret?

Alane Ferguson said...

Hi Ashley!

Another GREAT question! The whole town knows Kyle is back (he does something incredibly creepy - I can't reveal too much, but it's bad!) so they are all out to find him, but Kyle's smart and sneaky and the police simply can't catch him. The one who is MOST protective of Cameryn is Justin. (This romance is so much fun to write!) Stay tuned!

Hi Alane! I'm just wondering... will you be putting a fifth book out? Because I just finished reading "THE ANGEL OF DEATH", and now I cannot wait to get "THE CIRCLE OF BLOOD" and "THE DYING BREATH" when it comes out. Thanks!

Alane Ferguson said...

I'd LOVE to write book number five (I've mapped out another twelve murders to solve!) but I also want to write a supernatural book, so I'll just have to work twice as hard and squeeze it all in! I'm toying with moving Cameryn to Ft. Lewis college in Durango, so....any thoughts? Should I leave her in high school or have her graduate?

Anonymous said...

Hi Lanie!
I am responding to your question about sending Cameryn to college. I say yes but that may make it harder to write about her job as assistant coroner. Not to give too much away, but I was I was disappointed that her lead on that scholarship fell through! She sure deserves some special consideration after all her experiences!
I agree that Circle of Blood is your best and can't wait to get my hands on Dying Breath!

Hello to my wonderful New York friend!

I know, Gail, Cameryn deserves a scholarship, and she'll dazzle academically (no worries there!) but this way she'll stay close to her dad in Silverton because she'll attend college in Durango. See, it all works out! Thanks for your imput! (And I'm still writing, even though it's late here in Colorado. It's even later for you - you must be a night owl!)

i can tell this is a question asked by many...WHEN IS THE DYING BREATH BEING RELEASED?!?! im absolutely "dying"(pun intended) to know! so far i would have to say that i like this series almost as much as i like the twilight series. at first i did like it better until i read the fourth of the twilight series. i absolutely NEED to read the dying breath and see if maybe it is better than breaking dawn. i got so excited when i read that Kyle is back. in fact i was so excited that i went to the site that is put in your biography in your books to see what the next one was called so i could go pick it up from the library. when i discovered that it was still being written i actually started to hyperventilate a little bit... I NEED TO READ IT! and im also curious to know when it will come out so i will know whether or not to put it on y xmas wish list. please get back to me at stitch.rox.45@gmail.com. i would be forever grateful =)

Hi Alane! I actually had to read "The Christopher Killer" for a school project and was amazed by how good it was! I just finished "The Circle of Blood" today in Geometry class, it was my favorite so far! Justin is one of my favorite characters, he is such a gentleman, so sweet and calm and I can't wait to see what happens with him and Cameryn in the "The Dying Breath". I actually did not like Kyle in "The Angel of Death" because I wanted Justin to have Cameryn instead. But as the book progressed I found that Kyle really made it interesting, which is why "Circle of Blood" is one of my favorites, the ending really just left you hanging. I almost killed myself trying to research at my school library to see if there would be a fourth one coming out. I am so glad to hear that there are going to be more books in this series!

I was just wondering how much research that you had to do to write this book. I really feel like I am watching a episode of Fringe, due to the amount of detail and information about the biopsy's and the victims and how they looked after the died I can actually picture everything in my head while I am reading.

I was also wondering if any of your characters are inspired by actual people in you life.

One last question, are we going to find out how Patrick and his girlfriend are going, I think that her name is Amy Greene but I don't have the book in front of me....but is Cameryn finally going to get to meet her in the next book? I am interested to see how she handles it with *spolier* Hannah back in her life.

Sorry for all of the questions, you dont have to answer all of them, I don't want to take away your time writing "The Dying Breath". But I just wanted to let you know that your series is amazing and genius! I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out!!!

Thank you,
Caylee

I love the forensic books! I never really read anything about this, but I really liked it once I started reading it. You had me on the edge of my seat the whole time while I was reading The Circle of Blood. Could you tell me when TDB is comming out?
I did the Angle Of Death as a school project and was the only one who acted it out. Let's just say I'm into acting. I got a 100 on the Project and also got some kids from my class the start reading the series. I am Dying for the next one. I have learned not to read scary things at night, Haha I got so into The Circle Of Blood that I couldn't sleep!
Thanks

Im just wondering how you do it! How do you get such detail in your books? And hey everyone out there reading this and Alane. The BEST thing that goes with her forensic mystery books is listening to Breaking Benjamin. :) Thats what I do. And for your next book I think Cameryn needs to be in college. With that there can be soo many different things go wrong like another student in her class that gets jealous that Cameryn is a natural at forensic's that the student is out to either kill her or mess with all of Cameryn's evidence. :)
