It's Tonight!!!

Sorry again for the terrible silence, but things over here have been CRAZY!!! As many of you know, my best friend, Savannah Anderson, was murdered in 1979. ON THE CASE with Paula Zahn found out about Savannah from my blog and contacted me to be on their show, which airs tonight at 10:00 Eastern Time. Two months before we filmed I was truly at death's door with the worst case of pneumonia EVER, which meant I was pumped FULL of nasty drugs (Prednisone among others) that made me swell up like a balloon. Stay-Puffed Marshmallow face or no, I decided I needed to go on and be the voice of Savannah, even though I was still quite ill when we filmed. Having said that, the point of filming the show was to ensure Savannah not be forgotten. I really, truly hope I made my friend proud. So if any of you want to tune in, tonight's the night! Kisses to all, Alane Ferguson

It happened to record on my DVR, which led me to do a google search again. Several years ago I contacted you about the book I found, your first book I believe, with the inscription from Savannah Anderson's mother to a friend. It is weird to have this story show up on TV so many years later. My heart still aches for all involved.

To my dear sweet friends who sent me kind comments about ON THE CASE with Paula Zahn, THANK YOU for your messages. I was completely hysterical after watching the episode, especially since so much of what I saw I had never seen/heard before and I just sort of lost it. I've been diagnosed with PTSD concerning Savannah's murder, and it came back to me like a wave that I really hadn't prepared myself for properly. So to read emails that said you felt I honored my friend has been such a comfort to me. Thank you thank you thank you.

What you may not have known was that in late October I almost died from a severe case of pneumonia; the high high high level of Prednisone I was on swelled my face to pumpkin-sized proportions that was just so awful. I tried to get out of appearing (my doctor said I couldn't travel until January) but the show promised they would use great camera angles and put special contouring makeup on so that the swelling wouldn't show. Guess who flat-out lied? They threw me in that chair with none of the special-lighting-kind-angles-contour-makeup, even though the producer had called me with the promise of all those perks to get me to fly to New York and had given me his word. So looking like that when I wanted to represent Savannah made it so much worse for me. The way my dad put it was, "That wasn't your face." I'm embarrassed I looked so bad, but I keep telling myself I-did-it-for-her-I-did-it-for-her-I-did-it-for-her. And you sweet messages made me feel better. You all are angels!

I had to give myself a rebound day - I don't think I can watch it ever again.

So, again, to all who privately wrote me, thank you so much for taking the sting out of a very difficult time. Everyone one of you is the absolute best. Love to all,

Alane Ferguson

(Oh, and I'm going to post a new picture of me - my cheekbones are finally back!)

Hi Alane!

Just wondering how the Forensic Mystery books are going. Any specific release date yet? Or (gasp) a book cover?! It's probably too early. Excuse me for being too excited, ahaha. I plan to read the whole series from book 1 to have it fresh in my mind! Good luck on any movie / TV show deals that might be going on for the Forensic series. Hope it all goes well.

Happy writing!
