I Have Been Naughty, Naughty, Naughty!

I am so sorry for the radio silence - life just got the best of me, along with technical difficulties with my computer. But now for the news - YES, I finished The Dead Giveaway, and it is on my editor's desk as we speak! No news as to when it will be out, but I'll let everyone know as soon as I do. We had a wedding in December (my son Daniel to his lovely bride, Mandy) and a new baby named Emilie born in January to my daughter Kathy and son-in-law DJ, plus I wrote a l-o-o-o-o-n-g piece about the writing process for The Australian Literature Review in addition to blog post which you can find at the following addresses: www.auslit.net;www.writingteennovels.com;www.writingnovelsinaustralia.com
I also wrote an essay for Roaring Brook press and have been speaking all over the country, and am about to leave again in two days. CRAZY BUSY at Chez Ferguson! A bit of fun news between all the madness is that TWO producers are interested in turning these stories into a television series, so we shall see. It's always fun to dream!

My New Year's resolution was to be better at keeping up with my blog, which, as you can see, has been a dismal failure. Here's to doing better as the spring blooms!

The Dead Giveaway? Is that another Forensic Mystery novel??

Yep - so far, that's the working title. I hope you like it! This book is about Cameryn trying out and being accepted into a reality forensic show in California called The Dead Giveaway, and I've included another mystery between the mysteries... And for all of you fans in Missouri, I'll be heading your way tomorrow to speak to the Young Author's Conference at the University of Central Missouri this Saturday, plus I'll be speaking at a school Friday, which means I'm madly packing for my flight for tomorrow morning! AACK!

Just read your last tweet, and I'm so excited for the Dead Giveaway! I think we all are - we've waited so long for the next Forensic Mystery!

Just wanna say I've been a fan since the first forensic mystery, and I hope you'll have much more books/series in the future! =)

Hi Alane! Just wanted to say I've been a fan of the forensic series since the first book, and now that I just read your last tweet, I'm so excited for the Dead Giveaway! It's one of the books I look up to, just because of its character development, the way nothing is ever rushed. I must say, the Christopher Killer is one of the first books I really loved as a teen, and now the Dead Giveaway is already a favourite even if I haven't read it yet. Haha.

Hope you'll have more books/series in the future!

- Elle

Hello, Alane. We've talked a bit in the past but it's been a long while. Please check out this latest blog I wrote, I think some of the pictures may interest you...it's pictures of the inscribed book I had described to you in the past. I would just upload the pictures for you here, but I don't know how. The book is the copy of Show Me The Evidence I had found at the thrift store in Utah. I hope things are going well for you, I look forward to reading more of your work soon.

I am thrilled that the forensic mystery series might possibly be turned into a television show!!! (Gasp)Even though its a bit early, any guesses on who might be good actress and actor to play the roles of Cameryn and Justin??? Hmmmm....maybe Jennifer Lawrence from HG???
