Forensic Tip!

Hi everyone! Sorry I got a bit behind on my blog, but I'v been really pushing to finish THE DYING BREATH and I've been staying up late writing into the wee hours. (I can get a lot more done when the phone doesn't ring!) Also, I had a teen reading group ask me a lot of questions about my books that I answered via email, so I'm going to post those questions and answers soon. They were a lot of fun! Now, for my forensic tip of the day: Always wear a mask when using a Stryker saw to cut into a decedent's skull. Even though it only oscillates, the saw spews out bone-dust, which can be a hazard if inhaled. So play it safe and keep those masks on!

I'm so excited to see you're writing a sequel to the Circle of Blood. A friend introduced me to the series, and I finished them in about two weeks. I'm so excited to see what Kyle is up to. Love your writing!

Hi Alane! I just love your forensic mysteries because i want to become a Forensic Scientist when I am old enough! I was wondering though, will there be a fifth book, one after "The Dying Breath"? Thanks!

I'm so glad you're sharing my passion - I became drawn to the science after my best friend was murdered by a serial killer, and I've never stopped trying to learn how to solve the human puzzles. The hardest part for me about forensics is dealing with the smell. (Horrible!) But the autopsy is the last word - it always will be - and it's the last chance for the decedent to 'speak' to the living. I'm jazzed that you want to go into the field! And yes, I think I'll keep going on the series - I just need more time!

To my June 6 Anonymous!

I'm excited that you're excited. And just wait until you find out what Kyle is up to - he is in 'love' with Cameryn (if you can call it that!) and he is very twisted and strange. Poor Justin is beside himself trying to keep Cammie safe! And thanks for the kind words about my writing - the reiviews have said the books are getting better, and that's the best thing a writer can hear! Thanks!

Hi Alane! I absolutely love your series. My school, Northridge, started a book club with your forensic series and I've been hooked ever since. I was so excited when I got to meet you and I loved your stories about you and your sibling wars. I got The Circle of Blood and read it in an afternoon. I can't wait to see what happens with Justin and Cameryn. And I loved your ending with Kyle at the end of the third book. Can't wait to keep reading more.

Thanks so much, my Northridge friend! I'm off to Ireland soon and I want to have THE DYING BREATH finished before I go, so I'm hunkered down in my office, writing like mad. It's nice to get a smile from across the miles!

Back to work for me!

Once the manuscript of a book is written, how long does it usually take for the book to be published?

Does Kyle have a date with Cameryn? I really enjoyed reading your books!

Is there going to be another book after The Dying Breath?
